National Register of Big Trees

American Forests created the National Register of Big Trees in 1940 to bring to the public's attention the need to save and protect the nation's big trees. The National Register documents the largest known specimens of every native and naturalized tree in the United States. This list is based on Dr. Albert Little's Checklist of Native and Naturalized Tree Species in the United States. Anyone can nominate a Big Tree Champion.
