OTPR Response to COVID-19 (May 28, 2021)
Oakland Township Residents and Friends:
Due to mandates from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and MIOSHA, Oakland Township Parks and Recreation has made operational changes that are in the best interest of the health and safety of the public and our employees to limit the spread of COVID-19.
All Oakland Township parks, trails, playgrounds, basketball courts, fishing/kayaking docks, picnic pavilions and portable restrooms are open for use by the public.
Please continue to stay healthy and enjoy Oakland Township parks, recreation facilities and programs as you follow these guidelines:
- Do not use parks or trails if you are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms.
- Observe recommended social distancing of 6’ from other persons.
- Carry masks in case you encounter others in close proximity – less than 6’.
- It is recommended that consumption of food or beverages only occur in tables/groups that are spaced 6 feet apart.
This Spring and Summer, we are offering, by registration only, lower-risk outdoor activities including nature, archery, yoga, tai chi, and kayaking classes. Our team of staff and instructors are trained in safety protocol that follows CDC guidelines, are equipped with personal protective equipment and have increased the frequency of facility and equipment cleaning.
The Parks and Recreation offices are now open to the public between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Unless fully vaccinated, visitors who wish to do business in-person are required to wear a mask and all visitors must complete the COVID-19 self-screening procedure before entering the office area. Social distancing policies continue to apply. The Parks and Recreation offices can be contacted at email@example.com or by phone at 248-651-7810.
