In honor of their 100th Anniversary, RHPL is giving you 100 Days of Summer! From May 3 to August 10, kids, parents, adults, and teens are encouraged to read and have fun with reading challenges and activities. Readers can track their progress online for a chance to win great prizes.

Join RHPL for a kickoff event on Saturday, June 8 from 12-2 p.m. for free fun for all ages. Visit the Non-Profit Fair in the MRP to learn more about services and volunteer opportunities in our community. Play old-timey games courtesy of the Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm, and enjoy sweet treats and surprise giveaways.

“Reading and lifelong learning are priorities at RHPL,” said library director Juliane Morian. “The library’s strategic plan highlights and supports learners of all ages, along with nurturing young minds and helping patrons find joy and discovery at the library. Summer reading is a perfect time to discover all the library has to offer, inside and out.”

To register, visit or download the Beanstack app, and sign up using an active RHPL card. For easier sign-up, households can make one account and add readers all in one spot. Parents of children participating should register themselves first and then add readers to their accounts.

After you register online, visit the library to pick up your Spread Library Love sign and sticker pack to display in your yard or window every summer. All patrons registered for summer reading are entered into our Spread Library Love Sweepstakes. Show your love and you might just get a visit from the prize patrol!

The only rule for summer reading is to read every day. Read articles, books, eBooks, audiobooks, graphic novels, magazines, and even cereal boxes! All forms of reading count. Earn virtual reading and activity badges to celebrate summer reading progress. Reading badges earn entries for the end-of-summer grand prize drawing.  For every activity badge you earn, place a sticker on your sign to show off your summer reading skills.

Everyone who participates in RHPL’s summer reading challenge through Aug. 10 will receive a free book.
