Oakland Township Takes Part in September 2014 NO HAZ Event
The Charter Township of Oakland has joined several other Oakland County communities to form the North Oakland Hazardous Waste Consortium (NO HAZ) providing residents with a safe, reliable and environmentally responsible way to dispose of household hazardous waste.
Each year volunteers and professionals assist residents as they drop off their refuse at each of four NO HAZ events. The last of the NO HAZ 2014 events was held on Saturday, September 20th at Lake Orion’s Friendship Park. Sixty-seven Oakland Township residents were among the many people who waited in long lines to dispose of waste. Residents Peter Fontana and Bill Jandeska worked alongside Trustee Maureen Thalmann and Supervisor Terry Gonser to help process the 1,023 cars that carried old paint, electronics and other waste to the event.
