Beginning this month, Consumers Energy will be working on a project that includes portions of Oakland Township, primarily near the high transmission electrical lines. It is not a pipeline replacement project, but rather, an A/C (alternating current) mitigation project.

Any questions may be directed to Ms. Lauren Royston, Community Affairs Manager at Lauren.Royston@cmsenergy.com.

In order to prevent certain hazards to gas transmission lines, a copper ribbon is installed underground (2'-3' in depth) in close proximity to the gas line which will dissipate any occurring a/c current.

Residents may notice survey crews followed by installers in these areas. There are approximately six areas where the work will take place and will last roughly one week in each area.
